Whom to Change: - University Education or Corporate Culture.

If we look towards Nepalese education before 2048 B.S, Nepali Medium education was been taught in Nepal. After 2048 Education system was been changed as Privatization. English medium school were opened as well  as Curriculum was also been changed in School Level ( Up-to Ten Class).

If we look towards Higher education for management syllabus. I-com Curriculum was been replaced by 10+2, two year B-Com course was been replaced by three year BBS and M-com was been replaced by MBA. Later the MBA curriculum gets fail and it was named as MBS.

New Curriculum of four year BBA and two year MBA program has been launched by various University. MBA Program is one of the internationally recognized program as well the teaching method of MBA is different from BBS/ MBS program.

During Bachelor / Master level often college hire Industrial/ corporate expert as guest lecture program to present lack of University Education and need of corporate need.

In this article, I want to mention the difference between Nepalese Education and how its impact in recruitment and selection of employee in corporate. Before selecting any employee at first, Organization must be clear about its culture and what kind of human resource it shall be fit for organization.  Article has been presented on the basis of 8 year of teaching experience in various level (BBA,BBS, MBS, BBA-BI, BBM, MBA - Almost taught  5K students).

Schooling: - If we look towards Schooling ( upto tenth level),  Education has been differentiate into Government School and Boarding School. The difference between education systems is in government school, 1 Subject English

Curriculum

1 Sub in English and other subjects are in Nepali.

 

( However at present many government school have also started to teach in English)

1 Sub is in Nepali  and other Subjects in 

English.

Financial

Financially weak guardian are sending child to gov school

Financially medium / good family are sending to boarding school

Parents

Those guardian who are not educate/ non –conscious / or don’t know how it impact are sending child to gov school.

Parents are conscious. From their past experience they realize the weakness of gov school and has admitted their child to boarding school.

Discipline

As there is less monitoring of teacher, those student who have self-control are found discipline.

Close monitoring from school and teacher is there. Beside it interaction with parents is also there.

Guardian involvement

Guardian involvement is observed lower (To know about their child , result, how is his behavior).

Guardian Involvement is higher ( Even some school do-not disclose the result until parents do-not come in school).

Dressing Sense

Dressing sense is not observed.

Dress code, tie belt is there. It helps to develops child for personality.

Extra Curriculum Activity.

It depends on student interest.

School are providing it and charges are been taken.

 

Impact of Schooling in Professional life:-

As mention above the difference between boarding school and Government school, it has been observed those organization which working procedure is in English system ( Way of communication is in English), student from boarding school can be more beneficial for recruitment. Boarding school keep student under pressure as discipline culture is adopted so, student are observed more discipline.

 

 

2. 10+2 level:-

Almost 10+2 Curriculum is same throughout the country. However student who are from government school prefer from Nepali Medium and student who are from boarding school prefer English Medium.

Impact of +2 Level in Professional Life/ Corporate Job:-

As today many organization requires human resource of Bachelor Degree so +2 degree do-not impact. However communication language ( What kind of language Nepali or English organization prefer ) should be analyzed.

 

3. BBS and BBA level:-

Previously BBS was three year program however now it has been changed to four year. The difference of it are:-

In Government college student are involvement in Union/ political party.

College make Union for participation purpose.

Enjoyment

Due to one way communication , bf/ gf is seem lower

As communication is observed more in group, in class level student have love ( bf/ Gf) is observed more.

 

Impact of Bachelor level course in Professional Life:-

As mention above, student who are from BBA level ( if he have really studied well) are different from BBS level. As BBS student only learn book and one way interaction is there, their technical skill is also lower. Beside it no any group discussion, presentation is there so student who passes distance mode or BBS education seems less participative in group.  They do not want to share their knowledge in team. They want to keep knowledge on them self. Discussion/ brainstorming method seems lacks as they have mentality, if they ask any problem to other, they will get more humiliated. So on the basis of self-knowledge they want to dominate team member.  As well as if the student is involved in political party, they have more conspiracy nature in team.

However student from semester based, those who are financially strong they do not like more pressure. They prefer more soft language (Threaten in organization is given), they can leave job at any time. Beside it , as they have invested more in BBA level, expectation from organization is higher ( in the sense benefits like salary).

 

3. MBS and MBA level:-

Previously TU has launched MBA education but later the program was changed to MBS. The difference between MBS and MBA are:-

Impact of Master level course in Professional Life:-

As mention above the difference is mention. MBA student seem more technical friendly, belief on team building method, Proper communication is observed.

Also those student who have student schooling, +2 from boarding school, BBA, MBA. These student seems more financial strong. As they are themselves financially strong, this kind of person may be more ethical in nature (As they themselves have Money). However financial strong person may have more ego and do not like to listen from manager.

 

Beside it if looks towards education policy, due to globalization many student are going abroad and are having internal exposure. Few differences of it are.

As student exposure enhance in International education their communication skill, confidence skill  and way of thinking / level of horizon also enhance.

Impact of Kathmandu based and Local level education in Professional Life:-

Student who have studied in Kathmandu have more exposure, professional, open minded. However those student who have studied in local level beliefs on more Mansamman and have more conspiracy in nature. For the sake on Individual mansaman they can insult other easily.

 

As above mention, various difference between education systems, now organization should know their culture, what kind of human resource they need during recruitment and selection.

If origination belief on top to bottom approach

BBS, MBS student are better and also they do-not prefer to give reply what ever their boss say.

If organization belief on Participative  approach

BBA, MBA is better.

Communication method ( Writing proposal , email)

If organization use Nepali medium as communication, student from Gov school may be better  while if organization use English Medium as Communication language ( Student from boarding school will be prefer)

Learning Culture

As BBS, MBS is one way teaching practice. Student do-not like to share knowledge or participation lacks.

For BBA / MBA student- Participation, knowledge sharing culture, involvement in discussion is observed high.

Turn over

Student of BBA/ MBA have more expectation from organization as they have invested more during College time. If they get good opportunity, they may leave organization at any time.

Politics involvement

Those student who have studied from government school/ college prefer to involve in politics more In College life, they are directly or indirectly involved in politics.

Culture of Integrity

If people do-not have money they take money as brief to enhance economic condition and if people have parental property they need lower money. So student who have International education, BBA, MBA are more financial strong than student who have studied from Gov School/ college through out life.

Esteem Need

As BBA / MBA student are financially strong- esteem need is observed higher. They do not belief on concept "Boss is always right".

Confidence Level

Level of Confidence is higher who have International education.

Level of Horizon

Student who have taken International Degree (regular Mode), or student from Kathmadu horizon is broaden. 

 

 

Conclusion: - Every organization exist to achieve goal. So to achieve goal, Human resource plays crucial role for it. So above points should be considered during recruitment and selection of employee in organization.

Important Note: - HR- Head must keep one thing in his mind, what kind of Culture it has been set in organization and what kind of human resource shall be fit for organization.

     Divide the Presentation into the following heading

e.  Suggestion and Conclusion and finding

 

First Slide

     Write the topic of reort with team members.

     For eg:- If you have make report of Study of Turnover of X company.

     Study on Turnover of X company

     By:- ………

 

Introduction

     Write about Introduction in points

     Make only one slide

     Only one person will speak if the report is in group.

 

Objectives

 

     Write all the objectives in points.

     How many objective you have find write in points.

     Make one slide only.

     For eg:- 3 objective, 4 objective, etc

 

Review of Literature

     Write five review of Literature and it should be in mind or explain it by not seeing in ppt.

     Make one- two slide only.

 

Material and Method

     This is important part.

     In this part, you have to explain the objective and how you have done finding of the objective.

     You can make as much as slide you can.

     Show pie chart, bar diagram and other test.

     How much you have done finding , mention all.

     Eg:- for one objective if you have done 5 ways to  find out , please mention the five ways.

 

Finding, Suggestion, conclusion

     Make three different slide for finding, suggestion and conclusion.

     Please focus more on suggestion part.

 

 

     Please ask more question  towards research objective, finding of objective and recommendation more since this slide is the basic  guideline and the student will prepare slide according to the guideline.
