Whom to Make Happy: - Work or Boss

Nepal academy is one of the academic institution which provides Diploma in Pharmacy and Health Assistant program.

There are all together nine employee working in this institution in administrative field. This case is about two Employee. Mr Lok Raj  and Mr Ashok Chaudhary.

Mr. Lok Raj  is an employee who have survived In the organization by making boss happy. He does 10 times Namaskar to his boss every day. He pretends to do work hard whenever his boss come to observe him. Although he don’t have any work to do, he used to sit office for late hour and does attendance while leaving for home (late attendance), so that he can show that how much hour he is staying in office. He even  used to do personal (housework) of his manager like paying electricity bill, water bill to make him happy. He never behave proper way with his subordinate and peers. He even used to pass false information about his subordinate and juniors to his manager. No-one used like him in his team except his manager . He has mindset that boss is always right. Whatever boss used to instruct him, he had always answer of “Yes Yes Yes”

Mr. Ashok Chaudhary is the next employee who likes to make work happy. He believe in his work. He always used to complete his  work in given time . He is punctual, self-discipline person and self guided person. After completion of his work he used to leave home on time. The only one problem to him is he was a straight forward person who do not believe on making boss happy. He used raise voice if wrong decision was been taken by his manager.

In the mouth, manager always used to appreciate work of Mr. Ashok but in real manager used to like Mr. Lok Raj Bhatta more.  How much work Ashok used to perform but during performance Appraisal, Mr Lok Raj used to get promoted (promotion/ increment of grade).

Conclusion :- It has been observed in Nepalese Organization or even in Nepalese Political Scenario , a person who makes his boss happy ( To line manager) are seen more success rather than who makes work happy. If the employee have good relation with top level staff, his mistakes / unethical work are also neglected/ considered.  Manager become positive those employee who obeyed their decision (Wrong or Right) rather than how much he has contributed to his organization.

However, line manager should understand those person who makes work happy have more self-esteem nature and this kind of staff are observed more ethical in nature and do not like to make boss happy. They try to keep gap in the relation with manager.

 

What it the case about.

  1. What is the problem in the case.
  2. If you were manager what would you have done?
  3. If you were employee what would you have done?

Proposer Organization Culture must be formed.

Misunderstanding in Group

Mr. Dinesh Ojha is working in Corporate Organisation as a Post of Officer. To reach on this position he has done huge struggle in his life. After completing his +2 degree from age of 18, he had started his career. He had worked in various organisation from lower to medium level.

Mr. Dinesh Ojha belongs to medium level family background consists of four members. (Father, Mother, Self and Brother). By his personal nature and family background Mr. Ojha is veg and spiritual in nature. He is honest person having positive attitude and always thinks his work as God. All other family members were completely dependent on income of Mr. Ojha.  He was happy on his life and was fully dedicated to his work. He was far from Organisational politics, Union and other things (rarely used to join office party, tour, and launch). 

While working in organisation, Mr. Ojha to save money on his salary he used to travel office by walk. He used to stay alone. He used to go canteen alone so that he can have launch by saving money. As his nature is to stay alone, other colleague were amazed of his behaviour.  They used do backbiting of   Mr.  Ojha and used to say him as Mr. Alone.

But in Actual although Mr. Ojha is very social person who wants to Join group but to his financial constraints he has suppressed all his desire.

In Organisation, those staff who are more social, they are unable to save money (Conflict is seen in family life), while those staff who want to save money from their salary, they have to stay far from group.

·         What is the problem in this case?  As a member of group how you will handle this situation.

Culture of  GTPS ( Going together and paying self ) should be formulated in organization.
